Why was Hurley admitted into a mental house and why does Hurley think he has seen Libby somewhere?
So far in the series we have seen several characters come face to face with their loved ones from the past such as Kate with the horse, and Jack with his dad. When Hurley comes face to face to special someone from his past, we find out it is nothing but a imaginary friend he made up to stop himself from changing by eating. The reason why Hurley never wanted to change was because he hated himself for killing those people in the lift due to his weight even though his weight was not to the real cause. As a result he did nothing but eat and isolate himself from the public and eventually was admitted into a mental hospital. Through the guidance of his psychotherapist Hurley did recover and was released. Back on the island, his imaginary friend called Dave appeared again because he blamed himself for crashing the plane and everything else and started eating again. It went so far that Hurley convinced himself to committing suicide. Luckily Libby came just in time and stopped Hurley by committing to helping him recover. But just as the the episode ends, we see Libby sitting in the same mental house as Hurley, totally oblivious to her surrounding. What was Libby doing in a mental hospital?
