From the previous season, we realized that Jack is a very determined individual, willing to put his life on the line for people he barley knows. The first incident was when Charlie was hanging by his neck, unconscious and probably dead but Jack didnt give up on him that easily. After Sara's remarkable recovery, Jack actually thought he could do anything and that's where his life turns upside down. A patient with tumor accompanied by his daughter, a very attractive daughter, asks Jack to perform a miracle when Christian clearly states that there is no chance of removing the tumor. Despite his father's recommendation, Jack tells her that he will do it. After months of preparation, the day of the surgery begins and after seven hours of operation, the patients doesnt make it. During this time, Jack misses spending time with Sara all together. When Sara tells Jack that she missed her period, Jack is not quite happy but worried and Sara immediatley realizes that Jack doesnt want to have a baby. The patients daughter, deveasted, becomes quite close to Jack and go far as kiss Jack. Jack feeling betrayed returns home and promises change but its too late, Sara has already decided to move on.

STORY MODE

On the island, Michael knocks off Locke and Jack in the infirmary and runs off into the jungle to find Walt. Right from the bat, Jack realizes what he needs to do and gets ready to save Michael. Sawyer tags along but when Kate decides to come, Jack tells her off. This could be that Kate kissed him and ran away or that he doesnt like Kate anymore after she spends so much time with Sawyer now. As Locke, Jack and Sawyer follow Michael's tracks, they find out that he is going to a different direction than where Sawyer came from. After going further, Locke losses Michael's track and advises to return back and that Michael is not going to return until he finds Walt. Jack actually expects to convince Michael to return and that he cant just go alone by himself. Locke reminds Jack that they have no authority over what Michael can do or cant. Jack responds to Locke that he cant live knowing Michael got killed because of them, maybe because he is reminded how he lost that patient with the tumor and the feeling of losing Sara.

Just then the "others" appear, the same individual who took Walt away back in season 1 finale. He tells the group not to go any further or there will be consequences. Jack doesn't believe him until he brings out Kate masked and handcuffed. Everyone gives in by throwing their weapon and return back. Obviously Jack is angry at Kate but doesn't say much and hurries up to return back home. As soon as he arrives he talks to Ana Lucia and asks how long it will take to build an army. Just then we realize that Jack is trying to fix things when he has no control. When will he learn?

Images from abc.com

SYNOPSIS - the "white rabbit" if your wondering in certain cultures means of many mystical figures that leads you to a hole of psychological discovery. in this episode Jack is on the pursuit of this "white rabbit". from the previous episodes we learn that Jack seems to be seeming somebody wearing a suit standing in the distance starring right back at Jack. oddly enough that person seems to be wearing a pair of sneakers, I wounder why. we soon learn from the flashbacks that somebody is actually Jack's father. when the episode began, Jack was pretty beaten up from the fact that he couldn't save the lady in the water and consciously he was being reminded what his father told about him not "having what it takes". we can see similarity between him and Locke in terms of people around them reminding them of their limitations. maybe that's what makes them great leaders. back into the flashbacks, we see Jack's mother asking him to bring his father back from Australia. apparently, Jack's mother reminds him that he must do this since it was Jacks fault that his father ran away. when Jacks gets to Australia, he finds out that his father has killed himself from excessive drinking in a bar. sad :(. back on the island, Jack follows his father through the jungle until he trips and almost falls from a cliff when Locke appears and saves him. Locke comes out and shares to Jack that what if the plane crash was meant to be and that he has seen the island in the eye and it was beautiful. whatever that means.
as far as the progress on the island is going, Jack finds a cave where there is fresh water and nice cover for everyone. he also finds his fathers coffin which turns out to be empty. strange, how the body disappear. when he gets back to the crew he reminds everybody that they need to stay together and get organized or else they will die alone on the island.

CHARACTERS

  • we see a little bit of Claire and Charlie get closer to each other after Charlie offers to help her when she faints from the heat.
