LOST Season 2: Ep.4 - "Everybody Hates Hugo"

CHARACTER MODE

The title of the episode is very misleading because nobody really does hate Hugo because he prevents it from happening. Even though the episode doesn't show Jack and Locke deciding whether to inform the survivors about the hatch we can get a understanding why they haven't. Well first of all, they don't know if the hatch is going to be safe since considering that huge magnetic pull and how to explain everybody about entering those numbers in order to keep the world alive. So everyone is given a job, some cycle in between to enter the numbers, some are to keep a hush hush and some like Hurley have to keep the food now available, secret. This same exact situation correlates with what happened to Hurley when he won the lottery ticket. He kept his lottery ticket secret because he knew if he came forth everybody would treat him different, they would want something from him and if he doesn't fulfill`s their wishes they would eventually hate him. In the flashback we get to see this secret getting revealed the worst possible way, through his friend who felt betrayed because Hurley never told him. On the island, Hurley close friend, Charlie, starts to react the same way, first asking him for peanut butter which Hurley refuses to give, Charlie storms off. So Hurley decides to use the remaining explosives and blow up the food but Rose intervenes and demands an explanation. After talking him out of it Hurley approaches Jack and tells him that he will give a group of people a piece of food and keep them happy, just like how he decide to do with his winning from the lottery.

STORY MODE

Back on the other side of the island, the captors eventually release Michael, Sawyer and Jin from the whole but only to find out now their prisoners. The captors first clarify that they were also the surviving crew members of Oceanic 815. 23 had survived the crash but only 5 have remained alive. Its not clear why they attacked Jin, Sawyer and Michael, I thought they would be happy to see someone new coming from the ocean. I guess there is something more to it. The captors escort the prisoners to a save house where they meet Bernard, Rose`s husband. Wow, how did Rose know that Bernard would be save and alive, does she have some special powers.

On the other side of the island, Claire finds the bottle that contained all the messages of the crew members wash up the shore. She immediately fears the worse, so her and Shannon approach Sun to decide what to do. I order to keep the hope alive for everybody, Sun decides to bury the bottle.

LOST Season 2: Ep.3 - "Orientation"

CHARACTER MODE

Well after Locke learns that his father just conned him into giving him his kidney, Locke completely loses and I wouldn't blame, I would go one step further and kill him, but that's just me. In this episode we see Locke sitting around strange people talking about their anger issues and we suddenly learn Locke is admitted into 'anger management counseling'. After hearing other strangers pitiful excuse of being angry, Locke bursts into fury and tells everyone what his father did to him and the crowds admittedly quites down. After the meeting, a women approaches Locke and confesses her struggle with a sign of flirtations. Six months have passed and the women has given Locke her keys to the house but only if he gives up his habit of driving by his fathers house. Locke accepts but it becomes too hard to let go and does it again but this time his women comes after and gives up two option, him or her. Locke cannot come into terms so she tells him to take a "leap of faith".

STORY MODE

On the other side of the island, Sawyer, Jin and Michael get attached by a giant black dude who later takes them tied and drops them in a whole underground. Michael yells out for Walt but doesn't get any answer. Time passes by, the black dude appears but this time throws another person, a women which turns out to be Anna Lucia, the individual who talked to Jack in the airport bar. She asks Sawyer questions about their whereabouts but is surprised when she hears that they are survivors of flight 815. When Sawyer shows his plan of shooting the black dude when he appears again, Anna Lucia takes his gun and yells out to be pulled and we suddenly learn she was part of the 'others'.

In the hatch, while Desmond has Locke gunned and Jack, Kate appears from behind and knocks him down but as he goes down he fires and the bullets goes through the computer used to input the numbers. Jack empowers him but later lets go when Desmonds tells him that if he doesn't fix the computer the world is going to end. Jack doesn't believe any of it based on the fact that the computer room was outdated and everything was from the 60's so Desmond tells Locke and Jack to watch a Orientation video. In the video an Asian scientist tells tells them about the founding fathers of DHARMA, a society created to allow scientist to freely experiment with various fields of science. He tells of a accident that occurred, where the hatch is currently located and to prevent it from happening again, a person needs to input those numbers every 108 minutes. Towards the end of the video a sudden change in key frame tells us that something was cut out. Will have to see if anybody can find it. Desmond tries to power on the computer again but it short circuits and freaks out. He realizes there is no use so he runs away and Jack follows. Locke tells Kate to get Sayid to try to fix the computer. Jack catches up on Desmond and suddenly Desmond realizes that he met him in the stadium, he asks if he fixed Sara and Jack replies yes and that he married her. He repeats the numbers anyway and runs off again. Jack returns to the hatch just in time to learn the clock is almost down to 1 minute, Locke tells Jack to input the numbers instead but Jack refuses. Locke asks Jack that he needs help and that he should take a "leap of faith". Jack accepts and press enter.

Having lost his son, we get to some extent understand what is Michael is going through but from last season we learned that Michael didnt want Walt and he was giving him to his mother to be taken care of. In this episode we found out why Michael had given up on Walt. It seems when Michael got injured in the car accident, his wife comes back from Europe and tells Michael to give away his parental rights to Walt so Brian, her new husband, can get the chance to adopt Walt. Michael obviously cannot allow this to happen so he pursues every legal action to stop his wife but in the end he has to give him away since he is disabled and he wont be able to provide adequate support for Walt and so he loses his connection with Walt. Now that Michael gets a second to take care of Walt he loses him to the ¨others¨. So Michael decides he will do anything to find Walt again no matter what it takes.

When Locke enters the hatch after Kate slips down, he finds a power circuit with a logo called DHARMA. Desmond first asks if he is the one, not knowing what he was talking about Locke for some reason says yes but Desmond quickly finds out that he is lying and gets Locke to lock Kate up. Just after a loud warning sounds around the corner, and Desmond immediately gets Locke to enter the computer room and enter the same six numbers "4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42" in the computer and the timer starts back to 108 minutes. When Kate gets her self untangled she finds out that she was locked in a room full of food begging to be eaten. She loses herself to a bar of chocolate but stays focused to gets her self out of there through the vent. When she reaches the end she sees Jack and yells for help but Desmond puts on the music as loud as possible and her cry for help doesn't get heard. This is when Desmond pointing the gun at Locke appears and the episode ends the same way it ended previously.

On the ocean, Sawyers gets Michael safe on a raft but Michael is too angry at what happened and he takes his anger on Sawyer. Sawyer feeling abandoned departs on a separate broken raft. As they float suddenly somethings attacks them from the bottom and they find out its a shark. When we get a glimpse of the shark we see the same DHARMA logo on the tail of the shark. Strange. CHARACTER MODE

From season one we learned that Jack had a hard time letting go of things that either he was directly was involved or things that he had no control at all. In this episode we learn more about Sara who would become Jack's wife in the future. She was involved in a car accident that broke her back entirely leaving only a sight chance of her ever walking again. Jack took it upon him self to fix her but he failed and it became unbearable and the guilt started pouring in. From the flash back we see Jack running on the stares of a stadium because he couldn't fix Sara up. There Jack meets Desmond who tells him that sometimes you just need to believe in miracles. To Jack's surprise, Sara miraculously began to feel her legs again giving Jack a new sense of hope. Maybe this was the hope that Jack believed in when he recovered Charlie back to life.

Season One Recap - What happened?

A flight from Sydney on route to L.A. crashes on a island somewhere in the pacific. The flight, Oceanic 815 was carrying an undisclosed number of passengers that splits into three. The middle section carrying approximately 40 or so people lands on the beach and miraculously all survive but the pilot in the cockpit dies and the tail section is no where to be found.
Season one centers around the people that landed on the beach. Main characters that emerge from the crew are Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, Charlie, Claire, Michael and Walt, Sun and Jin, Boone and Shannon, and Hurley. At first weeks pass by and nobody shows up leaving the survivors to hunt for themselves, get water and make shelter. To make matters worse a strange monster lurks in the jungle with unstoppable force. The crew decides to send a signal out for help but instead get a french women's transmission that has been playing over and over again for 16 years. Sayid attempts to triangulate the power source of the signal but gets hammered by Locke from behind. Locke who amazingly recovers the strength to his legs becomes quite close to the island and beliefs the crew landed on the island for a greater purpose. Strange things start to happen for example a polar bear appears in the middle of the jungle, Ethan, a mysterious native of the island, kidnaps Claire, and the monster kills the pilot who discloses that the plane was thousands of miles of course when it sent out its distress call meaning the search party are looking at the wrong place.
Michael gets frustrated at waiting and also motivated to get his son Walt rescued builds a raft. Sayid makes contact with Rousseau, the french women of the distress call. Rousseau who appears quite out of it tells Sayid there are "others" on the island and that she had to kill her crew members because a sickness had spread over her crew. Locke with the help of Boone stumble upon a hatch in the woods. Both decide not to tell anybody about it and decide to open it by themselves but fail and Boone unfortunately dies in the process.
Weeks pass by and the raft finally gets completed but unfortunately somebody burns it down. Initially Michael blames it on Jin, Sun's husband, a Korean couple who don't speak English. Michael even goes far as to fight Jin to death when Sun comes out of no where and yells "STOP". Apparently Sun does speak English. When the saboteur is revealed, its a surprise to everyone when they find out it was actually Walt. That doesn't stop Michael he begins to build another one. When it gets completed, Rousseau appears out of the woods to warn everybody that the "others" are coming. Michael, Walt, Jin and Sawyer launch the raft and set off to get rescued. Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Locke with the help of Rousseau adventure off to find explosives to open the hatch in order to hide. Sayid and the rest of the crew run to the caves.
In the final episode, Michael and the crew do find another boat but regrettably not to be rescued. They shoot Sawyer, take away Walt with then and blow the raft into peaces. On the island Jack and the crew locate the explosives in a abandoned 18Th century boat. Hurley stops Locke from blowing the hatch up when he finds out that the hatch displays numbers that have plagued Hurley with bad luck and curses but Locke blows it up anyway. On the other side of the island, Rousseau after leaving Jack comes back to rest of Sayid's crew and distracts them in order to take away Claire's baby. Sayid and Charlie run after her and when they finally reach her she comes out crying whispering "they said they would come for the boy". Sayid and Charlie safey return Aaron back to Claire. Rousseau believed she could trade Clarie's baby for Alex which the "others" took 16 years ago.

LOST Season 1: Ep.23 - "Exodus Pt.1"

Images from abc.com

SYNOPSIS - up till now the goal of the crew was to get off the island and it does happen with Michael's raft finally finished and on the ocean. while Michael gets help the rest of the crew have to deal with a new problem, the "others". for the most part, Rousseau has kept her self isolated from the rest of the crew and the "others" but for some reason she decides to come in and introduce her self to everybody with a warning about the "others". apparently when a black smoke appears from the horizon the "others" will come, just like how they did when she landed on the island 16 years ago. the crew has three choices, hide, run or die. at first nobody gives her any attention until the smoke actually appears. since it is impossible to move all 40 people, and dieing ain't a option, hiding is the only choice left but where? Jack and Locke know exactly, the hatch but so far nobody knows how to open the hatch and how can they open with no handle. thanks to Rousseau, she guides them to the "Black Rock" a stranded 18th century boat in the middle of the jungle which supposedly plenty of dynamite is enclosed.

CHARACTERS (flash backs)
  • the first flash occurs with Walt in a hotel with Michael. Walt isn't too cooperative with Michael since the freedom he got from Brian isn't the same and since he lost his mother, Brian abondens him and he is told he has a new father.
  • we see Jack waiting in a bar in the airport waiting for his flight when a lady comes in for a talk. her name Anna Lucia is quite upfront asking if Jack is married or not and we learn that he isnt anymore. so it looks like Jack got divorced from Sara, I wonder how? also when Sawyer comes out about the man he met in the bar who was coincidentally was Jack's father. he tells Jack that Christian didn't blame him, he is proud and that he loved him very much as Jack turns away in tears.
  • we get a glimpse of Jin and Sun having lunch at the airport. Sun behaves very servant like to Jin for example laying out his napkin on his lap and getting his food. we know that she was about to leave Jin but decided not to so is she doing it because she feels bad of what she was about to do. back on the island Sun approaches Jin and hands him a notebook with English translations of the commands used to sail a boat. Jin feeling bad comes out with tears and apologizes telling her that this island is a punishment for what he did to her before.
  • we see Sawyer in a police station getting bad cop treatment for what he did to a very important person to the Australian government. apparently its the second time Sawyer has visited the police station and the cops decided he isn't worth the money and time to prosecute so they deport him back to American on the Oceanic flight 815.
  • we Shannon waiting in the airport when Sayid comes in the picture and asks if she could watch his back for a minute and she just ignores him. its funny how their relationship on the island turned out. in the airport Shannon gets pissed at Boone and in return tells one of the security guards about a Arab guy leaving a bag in the lobby.
  • finally we get to see Kate's whereabouts before the flight. for one we find out why the Marshall wants four guns in the breifcase. it turns out when Kate attaches the Marshall that we get a idea how dangerous Kate. we also find how Kate got the whereabouts of the miniature plane which she left in the car when Tom got killed. as the Marshall explains Kate had been calling him asking for the minature plane. all he discloses is a safety box in a bank and the rest Kate figures out. I wonder how? back on the island, knowing everyone has now considered a outcast, she asks Jack if she could help him and Jack fully accepts.

  • speaking of Locke, asks Sayid to bring Jack to the hatch. when they all examine it, Jask asks how they should open it but Sayid disapproves and asks the hatch isn't meant to be opened since there aren't any handles. this could a sign of Locke's weakness, realizing that he cant open the hatch by himself and that he caused Boone's death making him the outcast. also when Walt approaches Locke to confess that he didn't poison the water bottles, Locke comforts him that he doesn't blame him. when Locke holds Walt's hand, suddenly Walt yells "Don't open it" probably referring to the hatch.
  • when Walt realizes that his father is sick he comes out clean about him burning the first raft. Michael confused decides that maybe he should listen to his son and stay on the island. LOST Season 1: Ep.20 - "Do No Harm"

Images from abc.com

SYNOPSIS - when we first saw Jack's father, Christian sitting in a room cross legged telling Jack that he can never let things go, well in this episode Jack finally learns how to let go but only for a little bit. it begins with Jack helping to restore Boone's health just as he did with Charlie. With Charlie it actually worked but this time Boone isn't that lucky because he had lost too much blood and his leg was fractured so first Jack tries to transfer his blood which doesn't help. As Boone passes away, Boone becomes conscious and tells Jack that it was the plane that fell on him and that he wasn't supposed to tell anybody about the hatch. Jack gets confused but he doesn't care what happened, right now he is still hard working trying to get Boone back to live so he decides to amputate his leg. if every doctor in the world behaved like Jack the world would be more populated but there aren't that many. this is because as we learn from the flashbacks that Jack has a hard time letting go. Sara the girl who would become Jack's wife was actually his patient. Sara had been in a car accident which left her back broken and unfixable. but Jack would not accept such a fate and he actually fixed her. after he would become in love and marry her. if he went through so much with her why couldn't he write their vowels. this is because as Jack realizes that it wasn't him that fixed Sara but the other way around. as this occurs to Jack, back on the island Boone asks Jack to let him go and Jack finally stops his operation and lets go. as the episode is about to end, instead of coming into acceptance that he did his best to save Boone he blames Boone's death on Locke who he thinks murdered him.

  • surprisingly Sawyer actually offers to help Kate get the alochol to Jack and offers the alchol without any trade. Does this mean he is finally changed.
  • when Jin returns to deliver the alcohol to Jack he confronts Sun and tension arise between them but there is too much as stake for two of them to stay mad at each other. maybe that confrontation could have brought the two together.

Images from abc.com

SYNOPSIS - in this episode new developments occur that set the stage of whats to come from this season and the following season. first of all we learn more about Locke`s parents who not only I suspect abandoned him during his childhood but come back and work together to steal Locke`s kidney so his father could live longer. now if that isn't cruel I don't know what is. you get to feel a great sense of sympathy until Locke asks Boone to do his dirty work which causes Boone to seriously get injured. now the great mystery is how Locke saw the plane crashing into the island and Boone secret Nana death in his dream. did the island really communicate with Locke. can the island really perform miracles such as giving Locke strength for his leg and suddenly take it away. I suspect that there is something powerful and majestic about the island but it also has to do with the crew`s personal life that shapes how they view these miracles and interpret them to fit their needs. Locke obviously views the island as a place where he has gotten a second chance and he is meant to be here just like how he thought he was meant perform the"Walkabout" in Australia. whatever he thinks he is supposed to do didn't really go well when Boone got injured. without giving much attention to Boone`s health Locke returns to the hatch wondering why whatever he dreamed didn't work until a bright light appears from the window of the hatch.

CHARACTERS
  • Sawyer gets new specs because he had become sensitive to light and because he had been reading too much. strange thing he gets help from Kate who is worried about his health and obviously cares for him. Who does Kate like more Sawyer or Jack.

LOST Season 1: Ep.18 - "Numbers"

Images from abc.com

SYNOPSIS - its surprises me that Hurley's story doesn't get introduced till episode 18 when most of the crew got two full episodes already. I guess Hurley's story was designed to cross over what was actually happening on the island. also Hurley is probably, other than Locke, who is connected with the island in a huge way. Rousseau map drawing and scrambled writing which Sayid possessed revealed a set of six numbers "4,8,15,16,23 and 42". as we find out these six numbers were actually the lottery numbers of a jackpot worth $157 mill that Hurley won back in America. after winning the jackpot a series of strange things started happening to everybody around Hurley. first his grandfather 'Tito' gets a heart attack and during his funeral a thunder strikes and kills the priest with it. then Hurley decides to surprise his mother to a new house but when he gets there his mother's ankle gets broken, house gets into fire and he gets arrested in front of his house. talk about back luck. Hurley doesn't believe this is just matter of luck but more about curses. after digging further he figures out that the numbers he used to win the lottery actually came from a nut house which Hurley was admitted once (Q - why was Hurley in a nut house). His crazy friend Leonard used to repeat the same six set of number over and over again and when Hurley got out he used the numbers. after telling Leonard of what Hurley had done, Leonard starts to go even crazier and denounces what Hurley did. so Hurley further investigates and finds out Leonard's friend who lives in Australia. when he arrives in Australia he finds out that Leonard's friend killed himself four years ago. well him and Leonard used to work for the Navy and had a post in the pacific. one day they heard a radio call repeating the same six set of number over and over. so Leonard's friend used these numbers once and got rich and right after began to experience the same curse Hurley is going through.
back on the island Hurley uses the excuse of looking for Rousseau to get the battery so he can figure out how she got those numbers. when he finds her she reveals that she had intercepted the same set of number and decided to investigate when their boat crashed and landed on this island. they set to investigate further when they found out a radio tower but her crew got the sickness and died. so in someways the same number also destroyed her life too and Hurley feels a sense of acknowledgement of what he had been going through for the past several years. when the episode is about to end, the camera starts to zoom into the hatch Locke and Boone have been working on and when it gets close the same six numbers are revealed.

CHARACTERS
  • Locke always finds a way of making people happy or in someways change their thinking forever. in this episode he gets Claire to help him with something and get her to talking again. when he finally completes whatever he was making, it became clear to Claire that he was making a cradle for her baby. maybe Locke did to get some info about the others or maybe he just did it so Claire can feel home again.
  • Charlie and Hurley get close to each other when Charlie comes out and tells Hurley about his biggest secret in order to learn more about Hurley. when Hurley tells him that he is worth $157 million back home, Charlie dismisses him and walks away thinking Hurley is pulling his leg.
  • Michael and Jin seem to get to know each other more after working on the boat. there hopes of finding a ship near by is made possible with the battery Hurley got from Rousseau. well see if the plan actually goes through.

LOST Season 1: Ep.17 - "In Translation"

Images from abc.com

SNYOPSIS - the mysterious couple of the island, Jin and Sun gets a little less mysterious in this episode. from the flashbacks we learn more about Sun's father who could be the number one reason why Jin and Sun relationship is so dysfunctional. from the previous episode when we saw Sun approaching Jin and telling her about how her father allowed them to get married, well we learn how Jin really pulled it off. Sun's father told Jin that if he wants to marry his daughter he must work for him and of course Jin accepts and that's when the trouble starts. over the course of several years Jin's work becomes more intense and it becomes a burden on their relationship. from the previous episode when we saw Jin rushing in and washing the blood of his hands well that night Sun's father had requested Jin to deliver a harsh message to one of the governmental agencies responsible for closing his factory down. that night Sun realizes what kind of man Jin had become and that love between them finally turned into hatred. Jin realizes that something has to change before his marriage is done so he visits his so called 'dead' father who actually is alive. Jin made him dead because he felt ashamed of his father being a fisherman. Jin describes to his father that he is caught between Sun's father and their relationship. if he tells Sun of what her father does she would leave him and if he doesn't do what Sun father commands of him he would lose her forever. his father says its not too late to start over. Jin decides to start a new life in American after he delivers a watch to Sun's father associates in Sydney.
one thing I dont understand is why wont Jin start over on the island even when there is no way Sun's father can get to them and they don't have to worry about disgracing their family name. we will have to see what is really bothering Jin.

CHARACTERS
  • due to Jin's outsider attitude Sun finally comes out with her secret and shocks everybody about her speaking English. we see Michael and Jin confront each other after all those weeks of boiling tension until Locke interferes the fight by reminding everybody that they are not alone on the island and the crew should fighting each other.
  • Michael finally gets the raft finished and is really glad to get his son to New York but Walt doesn't seem too pleased. we find out that it was actually Walt who burned the raft because he was sick of moving places and he liked it on the island. so why doesn't he tell his father?
  • the relationship between Sayid and Shannon goes haywire when Boone tells Sayid that Shannon likes old men and once she gets what she wants she will move on. Shannon finds about this and tries to confront Boone when she meets Locke who reminds her that its time she start a new life and forget about Boone. she gets back Sayid's interest by kissing him and tells him that she wants to start over.
